Travelling to USA on an Euro (dutch) passport issued in 2005?

Instantkarma asked:

I have a Dutch passport issued in December 2005 which expires in December 2010.
Do any of you know if it meets the current requirements to enter the United States as a tourist? I have only discovered mixed info on the net so far…

Thanks.

Yvonne

All Dutch passports are in compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. ..
Yours contains a machine-readable zone and has a digital photo. To have an electronic passport with a microchip is only required if the passport was issued after the 26th of October 2006. The Netherlands have started issuing it on the 26th of August 2006.
Also the requirements to hold a passport which must be valid for another six month after departure from the States does not apply to Nederlanders. You can use your passport until the last date of its validation. ..

Be aware of the fact that you will need a prior approval (ESTA) by U.S. Department of Homeland Security for travelling without a visa. The approval can be obtained online free of charge.
